GALLERY HOUSE

A modern renovation of a house on a corner lot, with a focus on daylight and showcasing artwork

PROJECT SUMMARY

Sited on a corner lot, this project takes advantage of this condition with large windows punched along the side of the house. The rhythm of the windows is inside with large plywood panelled recesses, allowing for large artwork to be displayed and for the views of the street to become part of the “gallery.” The sunken living room with built-in sofas uses a neutral material palette of warm woods, textured fabrics, and tight detailing to give a calm and peaceful aesthetic to the space.

Location: Roncesvalles, Toronto
